Alberobello, capital of trulli
Alberobello, in Valle d’Itria, is the famous Bari municipality of the trulli, a Unesco Heritage Site since 1996. Its mule tracks are hidden by the rich and fragrant vegetation. The most imposing trullo in Alberobello is the Sovereign Trullo, built in the mid-19th century and now a museum. In summer, this trullo is the location for a series of cultural performances of various kinds. In addition to the museum of the Trullo Sovrano, there is also Casa Pezzolla Territory Museum, where you can retrace the history of this place and its very special buildings. A trullo has also been used as a church: the Church of Sant’Antonio, at the end of Rione Monti.
Alberobello’s Trulli have been a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1996
